  13. I love you so much! I love the kids, they all have such interesting personalities. And Oh my God, how sweet are Kimi and Angela! I like Sky too, especially how close he is to his father, he certainly takes after his father as far as height is concerned. So tall for a 5-6 year old. Thanks for subbing

  14. You can really tell the difference between the two culture. In china, i guess due to the one child policy, the kids are really the kings and queens. And when you think they are quite rude when asking for food or things, I guess that is how it really is, fortunately-unfortunately. And for the shooting crew, it feels a little messy with them almost always appearing on screen unlike the korean show. Still it is interesting to learn the culture and see the difference.

    1. Despite the one child policy in China, I believe Rock and Cindy have younger siblings (who are said to be registered under Hong Kong nationality) according to what I've read in the Chinese forums. But you're right and the cultural difference is indeed interesting to watch. There is less emphasis on age and status in Chinese culture (as can be seen from the lack of honorific speech in the language), so some actions may seem quite rude, but it also allows the relationships (dad-child and among the five children themselves) to be closer in a way I feel.

And I totally agree with you on the crew problem. They shouldn't be appearing on the screen unless the appearance adds some humour or meaning to the scene.

  15. I think these kids, namely, Sky, Cindy and Angela, had to work much harder than the Appa Odiga kids in gathering ingredients. They pretty much got everything - Kimi and Rock just got the pot - and they're all quite young. Very impressive.

    1. I thought it could have been that the pot was meant for Kimi and Angela, the youngest ones, at first, and then they swapped Angela and Rock because he broke his arm.

  16. Oh thank you so much for this. I had no hope for english subtitles but there you are! Thanks for your hardwork it's appreciated! It's fun to watch the differences between the two versions
It's true, the kids are spoiled, but I think they will benefit from this experience. From what we saw of their houses, they seems to be used to luxury, it won't hurt them to learn to enjoy all the simple things.

I wonder if Sky has a younger sibling too, since his dad says in the first episode "You're a big brother now", or does he mean the others kids in the show?

Anyway the kids are sweet and it's fun to watch their dads trying to handle them. So far I admire Jimmy Lin's parenting skills. The way he turns everything into a game to get Kimi to do things is clever.

    Can't wait for more ^^

    1. Thank you!

Sky's dad was referring to the other kids in the show when he called Sky a "big brother". Don't think Sky has any siblings.

I think Jimmy Lin's tricks only work because Kimi is still young. When Kimi gets a little older, he probably won't accept the things his dad says so easily (like Rock) anymore.

  23. Thank you so much for this! I'm trying to relearn Chinese language and culture from watching this. ^^ May I ask though, why Dad is translated to Papa? I always saw it romanized as BaBa.

  24. Since I heard that they'll make the chinese version of "Dad, Where Are You Going", actually I was a little bit pesimistic, thought that nobody will sub it. So, thank you so much for your hardwork :)))

  29. Seriously Jimmy Lin was my ultimate crush when I was a kid, and even now when I´m all grown up he´s still my crush. Even as a married man and now a dad, Jimmy is still super attractive and perfect as ever. He´s such a sweet dad, and he´s handle Kimi so well. Whoever his wife is is super lucky.
